The See Saw Collective is a group of artists who graduated from Griffith University around 10 years ago. They have retained a strong and resilient bond to their art practice and to each other.

“The mark of time gives us pause and a moment to consider the road we’ve taken. We re[collect] as we reflect on the notes of our student art practice. We ruminate on the strivings and sufferings from this past decade, contemplating how these experiences contribute to our accumulated collection of practices expressed today.”

Mixed media object, airdry clay, string, polymer clay, paper

Titled after the exhibition and created for the feature image to promote the exhibition. Each hanging element is inspired by the art of each artist that they created 10 years pior for their bachelor final year and that featured in the graduate catalog for QCA’s 2014 cohort.

Dark Forebodings (2024)

Video Installation: 7:50 min animated video, TV, button panel, headphones

As a multimedia artist, I work with various mediums, including drawing, new media, animation, installation, and object making. I am particularly interested in incorporating interactive elements and blending technology with handmade materials. At QCA, I began experimenting with installations and interactivity in my work. In my third-year and Honours projects, I explored themes of news media, social media, and protest action. This work connects to those early explorations, while addressing contemporary issues and showcasing new abilities I’ve fostered in my arts practice over last ten years. Over 12 months, I created three animated videos for The Dark Side of The Moon 50th Anniversary Animated Music Video Competition (2023). These animations have now been transformed into an installation experience. Reflecting on my influences, I remember citing Gerald Scarfe’s Pink Floyd animations during my undergraduate studies. It’s very fitting that, ten years later, I am presenting this work in this reflective exhibition.
