It's a little late, but here is my 2024 wrap up post!Last year was a big year for me in terms of my arts practice. I am very thankful that I was able to achieve so much in the year I've had.2024 marked a sort of 'return' to the art scene for me, after a number of years dealing with chronic illness, and primarily working in illustration & Design. I wouldn't have achieved what I have without the support of other artists, artworkers, friends & family. I would like to give an extra shoutout to the fantastic Cultural Activation team at City of Moreton Bay Council for their fantastic work in my local region to create opportunities for artists, and to Flying Arts Alliance for their amazing work facilitating opportunities & support to QLD regional artists.2025 is already shaping up nicely - From Jan - Jun I will be a studio resident at the Caboolture Hub creative studios (under the regional gallery), and in Jan-Feb I will be partaking in The Path Primer program facilitated by Dr Kellie O'Dempsey. REPOST from @flyingartsalliance___________________Congratulations to Lauren Edmonds @lauren_edmonds_art for winning this year's Queensland Regional Art Awards' Environmental Art Award in 2024!"Moreton Bay-based multimedia artist, Lauren Edmonds, creates work that encourages reflection on our contemporary life. Dark Forebodings is an interactive video installation featuring animations inspired by Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon tracks "Speak to Me," "Brain Damage," and "Eclipse." The animations blend traditional frame-by-frame animation with contemporary 3D modelling and motion graphics through a consistent graphically illustrated style and colour palette.The artist reinterprets the iconic music in a contemporary context to reflect the pervasive unease of living in an era of compound crises, such as climate change. Through this work, resolution is not explored as a passive acceptance, but as an active process of using imagination and creativity to overcome adversity. This theme is particularly woven into the animation for "Brain Damage," and is underscored by Albert Einstein's insightful quote that suggests "Imagination is more important than knowledge," challenging us to envision a different future."

Video clips of my work 'In Tune' (2024) that was shown on @adelaidefescent video walls during October & November as part of their Moving Image program. This work was created from my animations 'Speak to Me' & 'Eclipse' (2023) - formatted to present on multiple screens wrapping around the building.Video by Sam Roberts @samrophotoI'll be posting a longer edited video to my Youtube some time this month.The professional documentation of this work was made possible through the Regional Arts Development Fund. I am over the moon (pun intended 😜) to have won

I am over the moon (pun intended 😜) to have won the Environmental Award at the QRAA for my animated video installation 'Dark Forebodings' (2024). Over 12 months, I created three animated music videos for The Dark Side of The Moon 50th Anniversary Animated Music Video Competition (2023). This was a solo project meaning I took on all roles of production without assistance; director, animator, compositor etc. The animations blend traditional frame-by-frame animation with contemporary 3D modelling and motion graphics through a consistent graphically illustrated style and colour palette. It was a long, intensive, but incredibly rewarding project. I later decided to incorporate these videos into an interactive installation for exhibiting. This resulted in creating the button panel you see in the final work, that when pressed will start playing the animations from the beginning. When idle, the screen will show a looping video of a moon eclipsing. This work reinterprets the iconic music of Pink Floyd in a contemporary context to reflect the pervasive unease of living in an era of compound crises, such as climate change.
